LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 13, 2024) – The ETSU women's tennis team will begin its spring season on Sunday when it visits Kentucky in non-conference action. Sunday's match is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
ETSU is coming off a successful fall campaign. All seven Buccaneer players compiled a record over .500 during the fall. Freshman
Alessandra Caceres went 12-1 in the fall with the lone setback occurring at the ITA Regionals in mid-October.
Ralitsa Alexandrova,
Daniela Rivera and
Sofia Markova were not too far behind Caceres as they went 11-2, 9-2, 9-3, respectively, in the fall.
Kentucky, meanwhile, will be under new leadership this season as Shelley Jaudon takes the reigns of the Wildcat program. Jaudon comes to Lexington after spending the past five seasons at James Madison where she led the Dukes to a 62-36 record. In 2023, Kentucky compiled a record of 12-13 overall and 4-9 in SEC play.
ETSU and Kentucky have met a total of 11 times over the years. The Bucs, who also opened with the Wildcats in 2022, picked up a 4-3 win at Kentucky on March 23, 2010.
