Bucs to play in Belmont Fall Invitational
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 7, 2023) – The ETSU men's golf team opens the 2023 fall season this weekend as the Buccaneers travel to Nashville for the Belmont Fall Invitational.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE
Friday, Sept. 8 – ETSU at Belmont, 4 p.m. ET
Saturday, Sept. 9 – ETSU vs. Tennessee Tech, 4 p.m. ET
Sunday, Sept. 10 – ETSU vs. Lipscomb, 11 a.m. ET
ABOUT THE BUCS
- ETSU captured its fifth straight Southern Conference Tournament title last season as the Blue & Gold swept their way through postseason play … The Bucs made quick work of The Citadel in the quarterfinals and against second-seeded Mercer in the semifinals … In the championship, ETSU defeated top-seed and host Chattanooga 4-0 to secure its spot in the NCAA Tournament
- The Bucs return seven players from last season, including three-time SoCon Player of the Year Dimitri Badra (Maracay, Venezuela) … Along with Badra, ETSU returns all-conference standout Adam Nagoudi (Tunis, Tunisia) as well as Pedro Cressoni (Sao Paulo, Brazil) – who earned all-freshman team honors a year ago
- Joining the returners season feature newcomers Milledge Cossu (Miami Beach, Fla.) and Alberto Garcia (Alicante, Spain) … Cossu comes to ETSU after playing at Purdue where he spent time playing at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles last year for the Boilermakers
- Last season, ETSU defeated Tennessee Tech, 6-1, on March 5 in Johnson City … Badra, Nagoudi, Francisco Lamas, Lucas Britez (Paraguay) and James Sim (New Zealand) are all the returning Bucs who secured wins in singles against the Golden Eagles
- The Blue & Gold last played Lipscomb on March 11 2022 when ETSU won 5-2
- This weekend will mark ETSU's first meeting with Belmont since March 31, 2012 when the Bucs swept the Bruins
- This season the Bucs are led by former Buccaneer Ricky Rojas as he was named Director of ETSU Tennis back in July
