WOLCOTT, Colo. - The East Tennessee State University women's golf team sits in fifth place, shooting 281, seven under par, Monday to open the Golfweek Red Sky Classic.
East Tennessee State is in fifth place, one stroke behind Pepperdine and two strokes ahead of Denver.
Sophia Gambini is first on the leaderboard for the Buccaneers, sitting in a tie for fourth place overall after a first-round five-under-par 67. The sophomore went bogey-free on the first day of play, carding five birdies.
Arisa Piyamanit is next for the Bucs, sitting in a tie for ninth place after a three-under-par 69 to open the tournament. Piyamanit had seven birdies on the day.
Up next is
McKenzie Hauk after an even-par finish on the first day of play. Hauk had three birdies and is in a tie for 33rd place.
Just a stroke behind Hauk is
Aliezah Robinson with a one-over-par 73. Robinson is in a tie for 50th place.
Rounding out the Bucs' lineup is
Elzbieta Aldana Leonardo with a five-over-par 77 to sit in a tie for 86th place.
Playing as an individual was
Francisca Moritz with an opening-round even-par 72 with five birdies to sit in a tie for 33rd place.
The Golfweek Red Sky Classic continues tomorrow with tee times starting at 12:50 p.m. (ET). The Bucs are paired with Denver, Arizona, and Eastern Michigan.
