SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 18, 2026) - A crucial measurement of where the ETSU men's soccer team stands arrives on Sunday afternoon when they visit the Wofford Terriers. The game was moved up from its original 6 p.m. start time due to expected inclement weather in the Upstate area.

The Bucs are back in action after a 2-1 loss to UNC Asheville in the midweek stopped a run of consecutive wins. Jaime Carrillo kept his point streak alive, however, by scoring on a rebound in the 67th minute against the Bulldogs. The senior from Amarillo, Texas, now has at least one point in the last four games, and freshman Joe Gonzalez also has an active point streak of three games after picking up an assist on Carrillo's goal on Wednesday. 

The Terriers have put together a strong start to 2026, with their only loss coming to UNC Asheville on September 8. They have outscored their last two opponents 6-2 and have won all three matches at home this season, already surpassing their home win count from 2025. Scott Cheevers leads the Terriers with three goals, and sophomore Bear Rice has two on 13 shots through the first seven games. 

ETSU and Wofford have met 22 times in men's soccer, with the Bucs owning a 13-4-5 record against the Terriers. Wofford knocked ETSU out of the SoCon tournament last year in the quarterfinal on a neutral field in Greenville, while ETSU won the most recent regular season meeting 4-2 on October 24, 2025. Carrillo scored a brace in the second half less than four minutes apart to seal the win.
