With consecutive wins, the Buccaneers have already surpassed their win total from 2025, and they have done it with two notable victories. They stunned Virginia Tech 3-1 in Blacksburg last Wednesday and scored twice in the second half to beat Belmont 4-3 in a game with four lead changes on Saturday. Gavin Dick scored in both games and notched an assist, earning him SoCon Offensive Player of the Week. Fellow freshman Joe Gonzalez has scored in consecutive games, and Jaime Carrillo, like Dick, is riding a three-game point streak. Elliot Edwards has also broken out offensively for the Bucs, with a goal and an assist against the Hokies and an influential role in ETSU's offensive success against the Bruins.

The Bulldogs are off to a flying start and have notched back-to-back wins over SoCon opponents in Wofford on September 8 and VMI on September 12. They also have a 1-1 draw against Furman on the ledge from August 24, and the Bucs are their fourth and final SoCon foe of 2026. Tyler Ware is the Big South Offensive Player of the Week with a goal and two assists total in the results against the Terriers and Keydets. Goalkeeper Lucca Barros is the reigning Big South Defensive Player of the Week after a seven-save shutout against Wofford and a two-save shutout against VMI.

ETSU and UNC Asheville have met seven times in men's soccer, with the Bucs owning a 3-2-2 advantage in the series and having played to consecutive 1-1 draws over the last two years. ETSU's last win came on September 2, 2022, when Tarik Pannholzer scored in the 88th minute to lift ETSU to a 3-2 win and their first 3-0 start since 2011.
