ETSU Announces Football Concession Upgrades, Move to Cashless Operations

Cashless transactions, expanded service areas and new menu offerings enhance the game-day experience.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 4, 2026) – East Tennessee State University Athletics and Sodexo are introducing a fully cashless concessions operation and a series of fan-focused enhancements at William B. Greene Jr. Stadium ahead of the 2026 football season.

Beginning this fall, all concession locations inside the stadium will accept only credit cards, debit cards and mobile payment options. The move to cashless transactions is designed to speed up service, reduce wait times, and create a more efficient game-day experience for Buccaneer fans. To assist with the transition there will be two dedicated stations for fans to convert cash into cards that can be used inside the venue.

The transition to cashless service is part of a broader investment in concession operations that includes additional points of sale, upgraded equipment and expanded menu offerings throughout the stadium.

To further improve service and traffic flow, ETSU and Sodexo have added 13 new points of sale across William B. Greene Jr. Stadium. Beer sales have also been relocated to dedicated service areas, while additional concession lines have been created to reduce congestion during peak periods and allow fans to move through concession areas more quickly.

Several equipment upgrades have also been made to increase food production capacity and improve efficiency, including:

  • Four new, larger popcorn machines
  • Seven additional pretzel ovens
  • All-new pretzel warmers
  • A new coffee machine
  • A new grab-and-go store for club seat holders

Fans will also have new menu options to enjoy this season with the addition of Walking Tacos and quesadillas to concession stands.

"Fan experience is incredibly important and these upgrades from Sodexo are key to improving that experience," said Noah Hughes, Associate Athletic Director for Marketing & Branding. "Moving to a cashless operation, investing in additional points of sale, and providing expanded food options will help our fans spend less time waiting in line and more time enjoying Buccaneer football. We want ETSU fans to know they are heard and the driving force behind what we do."

The Buccaneers open the 2026 home schedule on Saturday, Aug. 29, against Campbell at William B. Greene Jr. Stadium.
