CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Aug. 21, 2026) - Between Otto Gustafsson, David Perez, and Frank Manrod, the 6'2" ETSU center back is the smallest of the three, but he was the last one to leave his feet.
That proved to be the difference as the freshman from Knoxville rose above the two taller defenders to win a clean header to the back post on a corner kick and give ETSU a 1-0 road win at Queens on Thursday night in Charlotte. The win snaps a seven-game road winless streak for ETSU dating back to November 2, 2024.
The Buccaneers (1-0-0) scored the only goal of the contest in the 85th minute when Manrod got on the end of an Eliot Edwards corner that floated off the sophomore's left boot and found Manrod rising above traffic to open his collegiate account.
It was ETSU's only shot on goal against the Royals (0-1-0).
The Bucs were outshot 11-7 overall by Queens with a 4-1 tally in shots on goal, with Noé Delmotte earning his eighth collegiate shutout and first as a Buccaneer.
ETSU stays on the road with a visit to Clemson on Sunday night at 7:00pm.
