JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 23, 2026) – The East Tennessee State University volleyball team has once again been recognized for its excellence in the classroom, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.

The honor marks the 13th time in program history that ETSU has received the prestigious award, recognizing the Buccaneers' continued commitment to academic success alongside their accomplishments on the court.

The AVCA Team Academic Award honors volleyball programs that maintain a year-long team grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale). This year, a total of 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball programs from across the nation earned the distinction.

The academic recognition comes on the heels of another outstanding season for the Buccaneers, who captured the 2025 Southern Conference regular-season championship and an appearance in the SoCon championship match.
