KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - East Tennessee State softball dropped a midweek road contest at No. 9 Tennessee on Tuesday evening. The Bucs (15-17, 3-6 SoCon) fell 0-12 in five innings to the ranked Lady Vols (33-6, 9-6 SEC).
NOTABLES (L, 0-12)
- Payton Moore registered the only hit of the contest in the top of the first inning from a single up the middle.
- Moore and Riley Croley drew the only two walks for the Bucs in the outing with Croley's in the top of the third and Moore's in the top of the fourth.
- Abigail Taylor led the team defensively with four putouts and one assist. Taylor turned a double play in the bottom of the third inning from an astonishing catch in shallow center field to throwing out the runner on second base that strayed too far without tagging up.
- Hailey Porter and Riley Martens followed Taylor defensively with two putouts apiece.
- Catlin Pennington recorded the only strikeout of the day for the Bucs in the bottom of the third inning.
- The Lady Vols scored six runs from home runs, with the ETSU pitching staff surrendering a single-game season-high four home runs. Tennessee totaled 12 hits which was a single-game season-high for the staff as well.
- The team totaled 16 at-bats, one hit, drew two walks and posted two assists through the 12 putouts.
