Cook, Ludtke make history; Ludtke climbs steeplechase rankings

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Apr. 18, 2026) - Two school records fell this week at the Wake Forest Invitational, as Deena Ludtke and Micailah Cook etched their names into history.

Ludtke set a new record in the 3000m steeplechase with a whopping 10:28.79, beating Chanelle Kruger's record from 2023 by over six seconds. She finished seventh in the race on Thursday night, and her race time puts her 24th in the NCAA East Region.

The following day, Cook came home second in the 200m sprint with a time of 23.88 seconds then took runner-up honors again with a school record 53.76 in the 400m, surpassing Jasmine Ingram's 54.15 from 2011.

Elsewhere at the meet, Meg Lance ran seventh in the women's 800m open at 2:15.45, and Conner Overly ran second in the men's 800m open with a 1:51.65.

The full squad returns to action next week when ETSU heads to Cullowhee for the Catamount Classic.
