JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State softball jumped back into the win column with a series-opening victory over Wofford on Friday afternoon. The Bucs (16-22, 4-9 SoCon) upended the Terries (27-14, 5-8 SoCon) 8-6 at Betty Basler Field.

How It Happened:
Wofford opened scoring in the top of the second with a solo home run over the left field fence and continued the offensive effort in the top of the third with three runs from a three-run home run. ETSU responded in the botton of the third with a hit-by-pitch and a pair of singles to load the bases for a sac fly from Lutu to score one. Boone then singled up the middle to drive the second and third run in to place the score at 3-4. Wofford registered their fifth run of the outing in the top of the fourth on an ETSU defensive error but the Bucs rallied in the bottom of the frame with three runs from four singles, a double and a pair of stolen bases to claim a one-run lead. The Bucs extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a pair of Terrier errors. A ground out from Croley scored Boone and a Martens single brought in Stowell to extend the lead, 8-5. Wofford was able to get one final run across the plate in the top of the seventh on a pair of doubles but ultimately fell in the final frame, giving the Bucs the victory.
- Abigail Taylor and Whitney Boone led defense with a combined 10 putouts in left and centerfield.
- Taylor collected her 20th stolen base of the season and Hailey Porter registered her seventh.
- Boone and Leinani Lutu led the team in RBI with two apiece. Riley Martens and Taylor crossed the plate twice apiece as the team leaders in runs scored.
- Porter, Martens and Taylor each registered two hits in the outing, with Porter going 2-4, Taylor going 2-3 and Martens going 2-2 after a hit-by-pitch.
- ETSU reached double digit hits for the first time since March and for the eighth time this season with their 10 against the Terriers.
- The team totaled 28 at-bats, eight runs, 10 hits, eight RBI, two stolen bases and collected five assists through the 21 putouts.
