CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (April 15, 2026)
 – The ETSU women's tennis team will begin its quest for a Southern Conference (SoCon) Tournament Championship on Thursday when it opens with a match against No. 7 seed Mercer. The Bucs, who are the No. 2 seed, and Bears are scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning from the Champions Club in Chattanooga.

ETSU enters the postseason with an overall record of 13-7 and a 6-1 mark in SoCon play. The Bucs played for the conference's regular season crown on Saturday against No. 71 Furman, but the Paladins came away with the 6-1 victory. A strength for the Bucs this season has been their play in singles. Collectively, ETSU is 71-39 in singles matches this spring and has been even better in conference play with a 33-8 (.805 winning percentage). All six Bucs have winning records in league action and four of the players have 12 or more victories this season.

Mercer will come to Chattanooga with an overall record of 8-13 and a 1-6 mark in SoCon action. The Bears have dropped their last three matches of the season, but they do own victories over College of Charleston, Florida A&M, Appalachian State, Troy, and Western Carolina this spring. ETSU won the matchup between these two programs during the regular season by a score of 5-2 on March 26 in Macon.

The Bucs have enjoyed quite a bit of success at the SoCon Tournament over the years. Since rejoining the league in 2015, ETSU has reached the championship match every season that the tournament has been played. ETSU has won three SoCon tournament titles in its history in 2016, 2023, and 2024.
