GREENVILLE, S.C. - East Tennessee State women's basketball (12-11, 5-3 SoCon) extends the win streak to five consecutive contests with a tight 58-55 victory over the Furman Paladins (14-10, 6-3 SoCon).
NOTABLES
- Carmen Richardson secured her second game-winning shot of the season , dishing a wicked three-pointer with :04.5 seconds remaining in the contest. her first game-winning shot of the season came in a layup at Charlotte to secure the 51-50 win. The sophomore guard totaled 14 points, four assists, two steals, one block and three rebounds to be the top overall contributor for the squad in the victory.
- Guards Jaidyn Harper (So.) and Anala Nelson (Gr.) followed Richardson's scoring efforts with double-digit points apiece, scoring 13 and 12 respectively. Harper tacked on four rebounds, two assists and two steals while Nelson added on three assists, two steals and two rebounds after going 4-4 from the line.
- Meghan Downing, the senior forward, led defensive efforts at the net with two blocks and six defensive rebounds, totaling eight for the team-high in the contest. Downing secured seven points with three arriving from her first made three of the season and the ninth made three of her career. Â
- Guards Emmah McAmis (Fr.) and Daniela Lopez (Jr.) contributed heartily with five points, one steal and one assist apiece. The pair were both flawless at the free throw line and collected one field goal each.
- Eight of 10 members of the squad to see action tallied a rebound and seven of 10 collected multiple points.
- The team totaled 58 points, 27 rebounds, 11 assists, eight steals and three blocks. Through the fourth quarter, the squad shot an impressive 87.5% from the field, going 7-8 to collect 21 points and secure the win.
