ETSU will honor its graduating class before the game on Wednesday, celebrating the contributions of
Milton Matthews III,
Cam Morris III,
Allen Strothers, and
Brian Taylor II as well as student manager Wesley Guilford. The Bucs clinched the outright regular season championship on Saturday with a win at UNCG and a Wofford loss to Furman later in the evening. It is their sixth outright regular season championship, all since 1990, and the first since 2020. Taylor scored 25 points in the win at UNCG including a massive second half to push ETSU to the win, earning SoCon Player of the Week for his efforts against the Spartans and his 17 points against Furman on Wednesday.
The Terriers are still jockeying with Mercer for the second seed in the 2026 SoCon Men's Basketball Championship in Asheville next weekend, playing the Bucs and hosting The Citadel on Saturday. Kahmare Holmes returned to the lineup two games ago after missing time due to injury and has scored 20 or more points in each of his first two games back. He is third in the SoCon in points per game this season and second in conference games only. He's joined by sizable production from Nils Machowski who ranks eighth in the league in points per game, fifth in PPG in SoCon play, and scored 23 of Wofford's 72 points in the previous meeting between the two teams on February 1 in Spartanburg.
ETSU owns a sizable lead in the all-time series, having won 44 of the prior 64 meetings between the Bucs and the Terriers in men's basketball. The teams have split the last 10 meetings, with ETSU having won two of the last three and five of the last eight, including an 86-72 win at Wofford on February 1.
