Last Time Out – The Bucs held an early lead at Virginia Tech on Tuesday, but the Hokies rallied to knock off the Bucs by a score of 7-5. With Tuesday's loss, the Buccaneers moved to 3-1 on the season.

Another Long Ball for Curless – A highlight from Tuesday's game in Blacksburg was that Tristan Curless hit his third home run of the season in four games. Curless' third home run is tied for the third-most in Division I baseball so far this season. Curless, who has three of ETSU's four home runs so far this season, totaled 10 home runs in his first season with the Buccaneers in 2025.

Boost from the Buccaneer bullpen – Another bright spot from Tuesday was the work of ETSU's bullpen. The five relievers did not allow an earned run in five innings of action against Virginia Tech with nine strikeouts. Overall, the Buccaneer bullpen in 2026 has a collective ERA of 2.08.

Home Field Dominance – Coming off a sweep of Marist in their first series of the season a week ago, the Bucs are continuing their stellar play at their home ballpark. Since the beginning of the 2024 season, the Bucs are 52-13 at Thomas Stadium (.800 winning percentage).

About Sacred Heart – Sacred Heart currently has a record of 1-2 on the season after a three-game series at North Florida. JW Fitzgerald paces the Pioneers with a .444 batting average in nine at-bats so far in 2026. On the mound, Bryan Matuschat, who is scheduled to start game one, turned in a quality start and was the winning pitcher in Sacred Heart's lone win over UNF.
