GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 18, 2026) - Two good defensive teams played two good defensive games, and for
Addison Yelton, that means landing on the doorstep of history.
The redshirt junior goalkeeper moved into a tie for second with her 13th career shutout in a 0-0 draw against UNCG on Sunday at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
The Buccaneers (8-4-2, 5-1-1) had to turn away the Spartans (7-5-3, 3-2-2) in the 42nd minute, when Avery Barr got on the end of a free kick and steered a header on goal. Yelton went full extension to stop the ball from sneaking inside the post to her left, and the game went to halftime with the same score it had at kickoff.Â
ETSU got its best chance in the 73rd when an
Ava Duffey through ball hit
Jada Cooper in stride on the inside shoulder of her defender. Cooper fired a right-footed shot with power, but UNCG backup 'keeper Cara Robell got to her right post and caught the ball on a line for her only save of the match.
Yelton's 13th career shutout ties her with Jasmine Elliott for the second most in school history, two shutouts behind Ashton Blair's career mark of 15.
The Bucs return home for the penultimate time this season on Friday for a game against Furman with implications for the SoCon regular season title. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
