JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 23, 2026) – The ETSU women's soccer team's regular season title aspirations suffered a major blow on Friday night with a 2-0 loss at home to Furman. The Paladins (11-3-3, 6-0-2) scored twice in the first half to pull four points clear of the Buccaneers (8-5-2, 5-2-1) atop the SoCon standings with two games remaining.
Maddie Massie scored for Furman in the 21st minute, and Marlie Nagle followed with the goal that put the Paladins out of reach in the 38th. The Bucs outshot the Paladins 13-6 and 6-5 on goal, but were unable to solve Furman standout goalkeeper Reese DeJong.
ETSU goes back on the road on Thursday to visit Chattanooga. The game has been moved to noon to accommodate the TSSAA Division II State Championship matches occurring at Finley Stadium later in the day.
