MILL SPRINGS, N.C. (Jan. 17, 2026) - Micailah Cook picked up right where she left off in May.
The sophomore from Sandston, Virginia, won the 200m and snagged podium honors in the 60m sprint to lead ETSU at the Tryon International Winter Invitational in Mill Springs, North Carolina, over the weekend.
Cook won the 200m by more than half a second with a 24.70, topping her time from the SoCon Indoor Championship finals last year. She set a new personal best in the 60m at 7.72 seconds to come home third in that event.
While Cook's weekend represented the Bucs' only podium finishes, ETSU scored a further nine top 10s across the weekend. In her ETSU debut, Sophia Edwards came home fourth in the pole vault on Friday with a 3.30m clearance. Brianna Fulford finished sixth in the high jump at 1.53m and followed that up with 10th in the long jump with a 5.23m mark, three centimeters off her personal best.
On the track, Sophie Beach's sixth-place finish in the mile with a 5:15.24 led ETSU's three entries, with Deena Lutdke following in eighth (5:16.19) and Eliza Everett in 10th (5:18.67). Lutdke also ran the individual 800m for the first time in her career and finished ninth with a 2:25.68. Patty Kilkelly scored an eighth-place finish in the 600m with a 1:42.6 in her college debut, and Katelyn Lemke followed Cook home in the 200m at 25.83, good for 10th.
Elsewhere, Tyla Nicholson led ETSU in the weight throw with a 13.81m mark, and Kilkelly ran the 400m in 1:01.58 to lead ETSU's entries in the event. Lucy Smithberger debuted in the 400m with a 1:02.98 and the 600m with a 1:45.53, and Eliza Everett (2:26.81), Kendall Johnson (2:31.39), and Gracie Franklin (2:31.44) ran their debut 800m races.
The Bucs are back in action next week with a preview of the SoCon Indoor Championship venue on January 23-24 at the VMI Invitational in Lexington.
