Bucs down Vikings in three sets

Blair collects career-highs in kills and block assists

CLEVELAND, Ohio - East Tennessee State women's volleyball collected their second sweep in the 2025 season on Saturday afternoon with a three-set win over host Cleveland State.  The Bucs (2-4, 0-0 SoCon) were led by redshirt sophomore middle blocker Gianna Blair in the sweep of the Vikings (0-6, 0-0 Horizon League).

NOTABLES
  • Gianna Blair, the redshirt sophomore middle blocker, was the overall top contributor to the Bucs efforts, tallying a career-high six kills and career-high six block assists.
  • Makayla Bays extended her streak to six matches at the top offensive producer, recording the team-high of nine kills with 12 digs, three block assists and 20 receptions.
  • Junior libero Melanie Morris led the backrow efforts for the second consecutive match, collecting 15 digs, one ace and 15 receptions.
  • Bailey Gohlke, the freshman setter, guided the offense to a .245 match clip with 17 assists.  She tacked on eight digs, one kill and one ace in the contest.
  • The Bucs totaled 39 kills, 33 assists, two aces, 54 digs and 16 block assists.

ETSU volleyball opens the 2025 home slate in Brooks Gymnasium over September 12-13 for the Buccaneer Classic presented by Tri-Cities Airport.  The squad welcomes High Point, Virginia Commonwealth and Western Kentucky to campus.
