JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State volleyball welcomed Chattanooga to Brooks Gymnasium for the Buc's 2025 Southern Conference home opener. The Bucs (8-5, 2-0 SoCon) upended the Mocs (7-7, 1-1 SoCon) in five sets (25-21, 21-25, 25-15, 19-25, 16-14) on Saturday afternoon.
NOTABLES
- Makayla Bays tied her career-high of 24 kills in the five-set match, pairing the kills with nine digs and a perfect outing on serve-receive with 21 receptions. The sophomore outside hitter's 24 kills extended her double-digit kill streak to seven matches and her season total to 10 of 13 contests.
- Freshman outside hitter Sophie Davis boasted a career-night, tallying 12 kills and four digs with five block assists for career-highs in kills and blocks.
- Matching Davis' efforts at the net was redshirt sophomore middle blocker Gianna Blair with five block assists and five kills.
- Brianna Cantrell, the senior outside hitter, led back row defense with the team-high of 13 digs, seeing 49 receptions while dishing two aces and six kills.
- Freshman setter Bailey Gohlke collected a career-high 32 assists to pair with her 10 digs for her fourth career double-double.
- Whitley Rammel, the senior middle blocker, recorded another all-around performance, tallying seven kills and three block assists with two aces, two digs and one assist.
- Junior libero Melanie Morris recorded her eighth double-digit dig match of the season with 10.
- The squad totaled 10 aces for the second time in the 2025 campaign, with junior setter Alex Kreutzmann recording a season-high of three and Cantrell, Gohlke and Rammel posting two apiece.
- The Bucs totaled 66 kills, 64 assists, 10 aces, 60 digs and 16 block assists.
