CULLOWHEE, N.C. - East Tennessee State volleyball advanced to 3-0 in Southern Conference play on Friday evening at Western Carolina. The Bucs (9-5, 3-0 SoCon) defeated the Catamounts (5-9, 1-2 SoCon) in four sets (25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 25-18) in the Ramsey Center.
NOTABLES
- Makayla Bays collected her 10th career double-double against the Catamounts, boasting the match-high of 13 kills with 12 digs. The sophomore outside hitter tacked on one ace and two block assists in the contest. Bays extends her double-digit kills streak to eight consecutive matches.
- Brianna Cantrell, the senior outside hitter, reaching double-digit kills for the first time in the 2025 campaign with 11 kills on a .333 clip with two aces, six digs, 20 perfect receptions, two block assists and one block solo.
- Senior middle blocker Whitley Rammel led on offense and defense with 11 kills on a .562 clip with four block assists and one block solo, adding one two aces and two digs. Rammel has now recorded three or more total blocks in nine of 14 contests through 2025.
- Melanie Morris led backrow defense with a match-high 21 digs with three assists and one ace. The junior libero has now accumulated double-digit digs in nine of 14 matches and in six consecutive matches.
- Gianna Blair was the next top blocker, tallying five block assists with one dig and two kills. The redshirt sophomore middle blocker has reached five block assists in back-to-back matches.
- The Bucs totaled 47 kills, 44 assists, nine aces, 61 digs and 20 total blocks.
