SPARTANBURG, S.C.. (May 6, 2025) – East Tennessee State University softball earned a pair of All-SoCon awards on Tuesday.
Senior infielder
Cameron Young and senior utility/pitcher
Sara Muir were both named to the All-SoCon second team by the league's head coaches.
Young capped her stellar career with a strong senior campaign. The Knoxville native hit .385 with 60 hits, 30 runs scored, ten doubles and a pair of home runs to go with 26 RBI, 21 walks and a .467 OBP. Her average, hits, doubles, and on-base percentage are all team bests, and her RBIs and walks were the second best marks for the Bucs.
She will likely finish the season with more multi-hit outings (16) than hitless ones (13). Young will leave ETSU with the most doubles in program history, as she currently has 56. The honor marks her fourth career All-SoCon award. She was named to the first team in 2024, the second team in 2023 and to the all-freshman team in 2022.
The award is also Muir's third career, and her third consecutive second team nod. The utility/pitcher put up impressive numbers at the plate and in the circle, recording a team-low 3.27 ERA with 30 strikeouts over 55.2 innings pitched. Her best pitching performance came in a complete-game shutout of Wofford with two weeks to go in the regular season.
At the plate, she's ETSU's leader in home runs (four), RBI (33) and walks drawn (29). She's hit at a .273 clip with a .401 OBP, and has totaled 36 hits while playing in all but two games.
