COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 14, 2025) – East Tennessee State University women's golf is tied for fifth after the first day of the Southern Conference Championship on Monday.
The Bucs shot 24-over as a team, tied with Mercer and just a stroke behind Wofford. Furman is comfortably ahead of the group at 7-over; while UNCG and Chattanooga follow at 15- and 18-over in second and third. Western Carolina, Samford and The Citadel round out the team leaderboard.
Senior
Alex Crafton is in seventh as an individual after a 3-over day. Crafton reached that mark with a strong front nine, shooting for birdie twice in the first three holes, before several bogeys followed at the turn.
Redshirt sophomore
Sydney Harz fired a 6-over 78 for one of her best rounds of the spring, with the trio of golfers left following close behind, as junior
Katie Hall shot 7-over, and sophomore
Brianna Castaldi and freshman
McKenzie Hauk each carded an 80.
Furman's Audrey Ryu was the only player to finish the first round at Solina Golf Club under par, and holds a seven-stroke lead going into Day 2 after posting an impressive 6-under day with an eagle. WCU's Sadler Miller, UNCG's Lulu Leetham and Mercer's Makayla Dubnik are tied for second at 1-over, and Crafton is part of a five-way tie for seventh.
