Bucs come up empty against Chattanooga

Milton scores 15 in the loss

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 22, 2025) – East Tennessee State University women's basketball fell short against Chattanooga, 51-46, on Saturday.

Senior guard Braylyn Milton led ETSU with 15 points. Junior forward Meghan Downing added nine points and six rebounds for the Buccaneers.

Two of the three best defenses in the SoCon made life difficult for each other throughout the first half. The Mocs grabbed an early 9-2 lead before ETSU settled in. Sophomore guard Brecken Snotherly scored four to cut the deficit to 13-10 heading to the second quarter.

In the second, Milton got going with five as the defenses again controlled the quarter, and the Blue & Gold trailed 24-20 at the halftime break. Milton hit ETSU's first 3-pointer of the day and was the only Buccaneer to hit from behind the arc as ETSU shot a season-low 12% from long range.

The Bucs offense had its best frame in the third, going on a 9-0 run to take the lead at the start of the quarter. After the run, ETSU only managed to hit two shots from the field along with four free throws to keep the lead at 38-34 heading to the fourth.

In the fourth quarter, Caia Elisaldez controlled the game for the Mocs, scoring 12 of her game-high 22 as the Buccaneers offense faltered down the stretch, and Chattanooga came away with the 51-46 win.

Next, ETSU will host its annual Pink Game against Wofford at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.
