LOUISVILLE, Ky. - East Tennessee State women's basketball (2-5, 0-0 SoCon) downed the Bellarmine Knights (2-5, 0-0 ASUN) in the first meeting of the two programs, 55-49.
NOTABLES
- Meghan Downing tied the program's all-time career blocks record, reaching 129 career blocks match Tosha Austin (2009-2013). With one more block, Downing will the be outright leader. The senior forward led the team in points against the Knights with 13, going 3-3 from the line, and tacked on four rebounds.
- Graduate guard Anala Nelson was the next top scorer for the Bucs, reaching eight points with six rebounds and the team-high of three assists.
- Sophomore guards Carmen Richardson and Jaidyn Harper followed Downing and Nelson's scoring efforts with seven points apiece. Richardson tallied five rebounds, three assists and the team-high of two steals while Harper recorded the team-high of seven rebounds. Â
- Downing (3-3), Richardson (2-2), Harper (2-2)Â and Nelson (4-4) all shot 100% from the free throw line, with the team going 12-13 from the line for a season-best team average.
- Freshman guard SaBreya Monsanto was the second Buc to tally a block, adding on to her five points, five rebounds and single steal versus Bellarmine.
- The team totaled 55 points, 44 rebounds, 11 assists, four steals and five blocks with 13 of 14 members of the squad seeing action in the contest.

- ETSU blanked Bellarmine in points from turnovers, points from the paint, points from second chance, points from fast breaks and points from the bench, holding an opponent to a season-low six points in the second quarter.
- Richardson and Harper led scoring with three points apiece while Lopez racked up three rebounds.

- Downing and Harper both went 2-2 from the line with one field goal for four total points in the third, while Richardson tacked on the frame-high of two assists.

- Downing led defense in the fourth with her three blocks, reaching four in the contest and the highest number in a single quarter thus far this season. Downing and Nelson paced the Bucs to 13 points in the final frame with four apiece, with Nelson going 4-4 from the line. Nelson also tacked on the quarter-high of three rebounds with Monsanto and Harper.
- The Bucs secured their largest advantage of the contest in the final minutes, gaining a lead of six with one minute remaining.
