LIGHTING UP THE SCOREBOARD - After exploding for 52 points at Western Carolina, ETSU is averaging 32.9 points per game this season. If the Bucs can keep up this production, it'll mark the third time in program history that the Bucs have averaged better than 30 points per game with the other two being the 2021 (32.7 PPG) and 1997 (30.9 PPG) teams.
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS OFFENSIVELY – A week after breaking the program's single game record with six touchdown passes at Western Carolina, the Buccaneer offense has a few more records within its sights as the season ends. ETSU has accumulated 4,899 yards of total offense this fall. That total is the third-most in the history of the program. ETSU's all-time record for yards in a season is 5,319 set by the 2021 squad so this ETSU team needs 421 more yards to break that mark. In terms of yards per game, the Bucs are averaging 445.4, which would break the single season program record held by the 1997 squad (432.3). One record that ETSU will almost certainly break this week is the single season completions record. ETSU's passers have completed 224 passes this season. ETSU's single season record for completions was set back in 1996 (237). The Bucs are also in position to break the single season completion percentage mark currently held by the 1953 team (63.8 %). The 2025 ETSU passers are completing 64.4 percent of their throws. A few more records that could be broken on Saturday for ETSU are the single-season passing yard mark (current record - 1996 - 2,830, 2025 team is at 2,686), passing yards per game (current record - 1990 - 254.0, 2025 team currently at 244.2), and first downs (current record - 1996 - 281, 2025 team currently has 263).
LOOKING TO FINISH THE SEASON ON A HIGH NOTE - The Bucs have a chance to win seven games for the second season in a row. If ETSU can pick up a win against The Citadel to close out the season, Head Coach
Will Healy will be tied for the second-most wins by a first-year coach in program history with Paul Hamilton in 1997 and Tre Lamb in 2024. Only Randy Sanders won more games in his first season (eight) than that. Additionally, it'll be the 12th ETSU team ever to win seven or more games in a season. It would also be the first time since the 1996-97 seasons that the Bucs have won seven or more games in back-to-back seasons.
ABOUT THE CITADEL - The Citadel enters the final weekend of the regular season sporting a 4-7 overall record, which includes a 3-4 mark in SoCon play. All three of Citadel's three SoCon wins (VMI, Samford, Chattanooga) are by double digits. The Bulldogs were also close on a couple more victories as they dropped the close one to Wofford (16-14) and another to Western Carolina, 45-38.
SERIES REWIND AGAINST THE BULLDOGS - ETSU is 20-13 all-time against The Citadel, which includes wins in four of the last five games between these two programs. The Buccaneers won last season's matchup in Charleston, 34-17.
