JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State volleyball moved to 5-0 in Southern Conference play after a sweep of The Citadel on Friday night. The Bucs (11-5, 5-0 SoCon) downed the Bulldogs (0-15, 0-5 SoCon) in three sets (25-19-25-16, 25-15).
NOTABLES
- Gianna Blair was the dominate force for the Bucs, tying her career-high of six total blocks while setting a new career-high in both kills (9) and attack percentage (.692). The redshirt sophomore middle blocker's .692 is the highest attack percentage for the Bucs in a sweep with a minimum of 10 attempts since McKayla Barber reached .810 in 2011.
- Makayla Bays' offensive output was sky-high with 12 kills at four kills per set on a career-high clip of .688. The sophomore outside hitter totaled three aces, five digs and three total blocks alongside her 12 kills.
- Whitley Rammel continues her reign with six kills on a .556 clip, tacking on two aces and four block assists in the match. The senior middle blocker has now hit over .500 in her last three appearances.
- Junior setter Alex Kreutzmann and freshman setter Bailey Gohlke tag-teamed leading the offense to a season-high team attack percentage of .400, with the squad totaling 40 kills at 13.33 per set and three hitters over .500. Kreutzmann tallied the team-high of 18 assists and Gohlke reached 14.
- Redshirt freshman libero Kari Wilson boasted a career-high 12 digs at 4.0 per set with nine flawless receptions and a career-high four assists.
- Chloe Smith, the freshman outside hitter, tallied her first career kill in the match and saw five perfect receptions.
- The Bucs totaled 40 kills, 38 assists, seven aces, 32 digs and 20 total blocks while holding the Bulldogs to a .080 team attack percentage and nine of the 15 members of the team recorded a kill, with all 15 members of the squad seeing action.
