BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - East Tennessee State volleyball upended Samford on Saturday evening. The Bucs (10-5, 4-0 SoCon) defeated the Bulldogs (5-10, 0-4 SoCon) in four sets (19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20) in Pete Hanna Center.
NOTABLES
- Whitley Rammel, the senior middle blocker, led the offensive effectiveness with eight kills on a .538 clip, tacking on three block assists and six digs.
- Freshman outside hitter Sophie Davis followed Rammel's efforts at nine kills on a .533 clip with three block assists.
- Melanie Morris, the junior libero, boasted a career-high 24 digs in the contest, tacking on two aces and and 30 receptions with two assists.
- Makayla Bays tallied the team-high of 15 kills in the four-set match, hitting .234 with nine digs, one block solo, 14 receptions and one ace. The sophomore outside hitter extends her double-digit kills streak to eight matches.
- Gianna Blair led defense at the net with four block assists, adding on six kills at a .500 attack percentage with no errors for a perfect night of play. The redshirt sophomore middle blocker has now recorded three or more blocks in seven matches this season.
- The Bucs totaled 54 kills, 49 assists, five aces, 55 digs and 15 total blocks.
