Belle Iosua stuns in 3-0 victory over Mercer

The Bucs advance to 9-0 in SoCon play

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State volleyball delivered its ninth SoCon victory to remain undefeated in conference action on Tuesday night.  The Bucs (15-5, 9-0 SoCon) downed the Bears (6-16, 2-7 SoCon) in three sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-18) for the second time this season for a series sweep.

NOTABLES
  • Isabelle Iosua, the senior opposite hitter, boasted a standout day, collecting the match-high of 10 kills on a .467 clip with a career-high six block assists.
  • Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Gianna Blair tallied a career outing with a career-high eight block assists for 2.67 blocks per set.
  • Senior outside hitter Brianna Cantrell and senior middle blocker Whitley Rammel were the next top blockers for the squad with four block assists and three block assists, respectively.
  • Cantrell and freshman setter Bailey Gohlke led backrow defense with the team-high of nine digs apiece, with Cantrell tacking on seven kills and Gohlke adding on one kill, 14 assists and one ace.
  • Following Iosua was freshman outside hitter Sophie Davis with eight kills on a .429 clip, Rammel with seven kills on a .600 clip and sophomore outside hitter Makayla Bays with seven kills.
  • Junior setter Alex Kreutzmann collected 19 assists with six digs.
  • Both Bays and junior libero Melanie Morris boasted perfect nights on serve-receive with 13 flawless receptions apiece.
  • All 15 members of the squad saw action in the three-set match against the Bears.
  • The Bucs totaled 42 kills, 38 assists, three aces, 42 digs and 22 total blocks at 7.33 blocks per set.
