SALEM, Va. (Oct. 18, 2025) - The longest race of the year was the best one for Sophie Beach.
The senior from Boone, North Carolina, came home third with a 21:52.0 to pace the ETSU women's cross country team to its first team win of 2025 at the South Region Showdown women's 6k on Saturday morning. Beach ran the first five kilometers in 18:20.3, her fastest 5k time of 2025, and gained two positions in the final leg to snag the first podium finish for women's cross country this season.
Kendall Johnson joined Beach in the top 10 with a ninth-place finish at 22:32.2. Meg Lance missed out on her first top 10 of the season by just four tenths of a second with a 22:33.7, and Camryn Johnson crossed the line behind Lance with a 22:35.8. Eliza Everett finished 18th with a 22:52.3 and Isabella Dentino crossed the line 37th with a 23:53.1 with both freshmen setting their best 5k marks at the split, with Everett running the first five kilometers in 19:03.4 and Dentino in 19:50.3.
ETSU takes next weekend off before the 2025 SoCon Cross Country Championships on November 1 in Mill Springs, North Carolina.
