JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2025) - The ETSU women's soccer team played to its third straight split decision on Thursday with a 0-0 draw against Western Carolina at Summers-Taylor Stadium. The tie stretches ETSU's school-record unbeaten streak to 12 consecutive games as Addison Yelton earned her seventh shutout of 2025.
In a game full of half-chances and glimpses at goal, the best scoring opportunity for the Buccaneers (8-2-6, 3-0-4) came in the 87th minute, when Reagan Fitzgerald got a header onto a Grace Eatz corner but was denied by a last-ditch defensive effort by the Catamounts (8-4-4, 4-1-2) to deny a goal with a line of defenders supporting goalkeeper Leanne Trudel.
The final chance for Western Carolina was in the 89th, and it was by far their best one when a Sofia Goclowski cross from the left wing landed at the feet of Emma Soucy 15 yards from goal. Soucy took one dribble and fired a hard shot along the ground with her right foot, forcing Yelton to make her toughest save of the night with a lunging effort along the ground to her right, getting her right hand to the ball and parrying away a sure goal to preserve the draw.
Yelton's seventh shutout ties her with Shu Ohba for second most in a season at ETSU, one shy of Ashton Blair's single-season record from 2023. It also breaks a tie with Anna Yancey for sixth on the career shutouts list, two back of Meagan Masch for fifth.
The draw along with Samford's 3-0 win at Mercer keep ETSU in third place in the SoCon, four points adrift of the reigning champions as they prepare to visit Samford on Sunday at 2:00pm Eastern.
