LEXINGTON, Va. (Jan. 25, 2025) – The ETSU women's track and field team concluded the final day of competition at the VMI Invitational on Saturday at the CPTF-Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington, Va.
ETSU had one podium finish Saturday as
Julia Visgueiro capped off a productive weekend in her track and field debut. Visgueiro, a member of the Buccaneer women's triathlon team, finished second in the mile after registering a time of 5:09.35. On Friday, Visgueiro won the 5000m with a time of 17:54.59.
Staying on the track, freshman
Micailah Cook was featured in both the 400m and 200m on Saturday. Cook placed fourth in the 400m (57.87) and seventh in the 200m (25.50). Meanwhile,
Izelle Kruger – who ran a leg on ETSU's 4x800m relay that won gold on Friday night – turned in her second-fastest time in the 800m after finishing sixth in 2:24.45. Freshman
Deena Ludtke made her collegiate debut in the 3000m where she placed fifth in 10:17.69. Like Kruger, Ludtke also ran a leg in last night's 4x800m relay.
In the field events, freshman
Akera Molette and
Lexi Carter had strong showings in their respective events. Molette reached the finals in the triple jump where she finished eighth with a leap of 10.72m. That mark came on her fifth attempt. In the throws, Carter placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 13.22m.

After competing back-to-back weekends to open the indoor season, ETSU will take a week off and returns to the track on Feb. 7 when the Bucs compete in the Camel City Sprint Invitational.
