ETSU enters the matchup after dropping a pair of road tilts with UNC Greensboro and Western Carolina. A cold fourth quarter sunk the Bucs against the Spartans, and a season-low free throw shooting percentage (7-for-16, 43.8%) in Cullowhee sent the Buccaneers to 0-2 in conference play.
On the season, senior guard Braylyn Milton leads ETSU with 12.1 points per game. Senior guard Courtney Moore adds 11.4 per contest. Junior forward Meghan Downing grabs 7.0 rebounds per game, and senior guard Kendall Folley contributes 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
Mercer won its lone SoCon game thus far at home 56-53 over Samford. Kayla Smith led the Bears with 17 points off the bench, including a perfect 11-for-11 mark at the free throw line. Nahawa Diara added a 15 point, ten rebound double with four steals. Mercer, which leads the conference in free throws made per game, went 19-of-24 from the charity stripe as a team against the Bulldogs.
The Buccaneers trail the all-time series with the Bears 22-27 and lost the most recent matchup in the series in the opening round of the 2023-24 SoCon Championship, in which Meghan Downing led ETSU with 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. The Bucs are 2-3 in the Mock Brown era, with a 1-1 mark in Brooks Gym. In the lone home win, Courtney Moore scored 16 with three steals and Brecken Snotherly added 12 points and five rebounds.
