DURHAM, N.C. (Sept. 8, 2024) — The ETSU women's soccer team wrapped up non-conference play by dropping a 5-0 decision at Duke on Sunday night at Koskinen Stadium.
Playing Duke for the first time in program history, the ACC contender opened with a pair of first-half goals before tacking on three more in the final 45 to secure the victory. Five different players accounted for the Blue Devils' goals.
Buccaneer goalkeeper
Ashton Blair played all 90 minutes where she registered a career-high 12 saves. Following the 12 saves, Blair moved into sixth all-time with 166 for her career.
Freshman
Ava Duffey recorded ETSU's lone shot on the night, which came in the 20th minute.
Duke, who was coming off a 1-0 win over No. 2 North Carolina on Thursday night, totaled 32 shots. The Blue Devils also held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Sunday marked the second Power-4 opponent for the Bucs this season as ETSU hosted Tennessee back on Aug. 22.
With the setback, ETSU moved to 1-4-1 overall, while Duke improved to 4-1.
The Bucs now turn their attention to Southern Conference play as ETSU hosts The Citadel on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.
