ABOUT THE BUCS
- The Bucs are 1-2-1 after their first four games of the season
- ETSU is unbeaten at home as the Blue & Gold are 1-0-1 inside Summers-Taylor Stadium
- The Bucs opened the season with a 3-1 win over Longwood and played Presbyterian to a 1-1 draw on Aug. 29
- ETSU is looking to rebound from its 6-0 setback at No. 17 North Carolina on Monday
- Abdi Bahur leads the Bucs with three points on the season – all three assists coming in the season-opening win over the Lancers … The three assists set a new single-game program record
- Henrique Cruz, Zayd Idlibi, Ingvar Kolbjornsen and Ryan Suckling have accounted for the four Buccaneer goals on the campaign
- The Bucs are led by first-year head coach Allen Vital … Vital comes to Johnson City with 27 years of head coaching experience as he spent 14 years at Carson-Newman and spent the last 13 seasons at his alma mater, Tusculum
- ETSU won the Southern Conference regular season title a year ago after finishing the 2023 campaign with an overall record of 9-5-3 and league mark of 4-0-1
- The Bucs return nine players who logged minutes on the pitch last season, including preseason all-SoCon selection Gabriel Ramos
- Ramos, a preseason all-SoCon selection, started all 17 matches last season where he tallied six goals, five assists and 17 points … Ramos led the team in goals and points and was tied for the team lead in assists
ABOUT UNCW
- UNCW sits 1-0-2 following its first three games to start the season
- The Seahawks' win came against American in a 2-0 contest, while UNCW played Furman and South Florida to 1-1 draws
- Christian Acevedo, Alex Hornada and Ryan Lee have accounted for UNCW's three goals on the season
- Viktor Engh has logged all 270 minutes in goal for the Seahawks where he has tallied 15 saves and allowed two goals
- UNCW junior defender Jake Shannon earned Coastal Athletic Association preseason honors … Shannon, a two-time All-CAA selection, played in all 33 games and all but one possible minute over the last two seasons for the Seahawks
- The Seahawks were picked seventh in the CAA Preseason Coaches Poll
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday marks the second all-time meeting between the two programs
- The teams played for the first time last season where the Bucs dropped a 1-0 decision on Sept. 9 in Wilmington, N.C.
