HIGH POINT, N.C. (Sept. 10, 2024) – The ETSU men's soccer team opens a four-game road swing as the Buccaneers head back to North Carolina to take on High Point Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Vert Stadium.

ABOUT THE BUCS

• Through the first five games of the season, ETSU is 1-2-2
• The Bucs are coming off a 2-2 draw to UNC Wilmington on Saturday
• ETSU led 2-0 through the first 45 minutes thanks to goals from Henrique Cruz and Gabriel Ramos; however, the Seahawks netted a pair of goals in the second half to force the draw
• Cruz and Ramos lead the Blue & Gold with five points each on the season
• Cruz has netted a team-best two goals and has one assist, while Ramos has three assists to go with his one goal
• Following the assist on Saturday, Ramos moved into solo third all-time with 14 for his career … Ramos trails co-leaders Cameron Woodfin and David Geno, who both Buccaneer greats finished their careers with 20
• With the draw on Saturday, ETSU remained unbeaten at home as the Blue & Gold are 1-0-2 inside Summers-Taylor Stadium
• The Bucs opened the season with a 3-1 win over Longwood and played Presbyterian to a 1-1 draw on Aug. 29
• The Bucs are led by first-year head coach Allen Vital … Vital comes to Johnson City with 27 years of head coaching experience as he spent 14 years at Carson-Newman and spent the last 13 seasons at his alma mater, Tusculum
• ETSU won the Southern Conference regular season title a year ago after finishing the 2023 campaign with an overall record of 9-5-3 and league mark of 4-0-1
• The Bucs return nine players who logged minutes on the pitch last season, including preseason all-SoCon selection Gabriel Ramos
• Ramos, a preseason all-SoCon selection, started all 17 matches last season where he tallied six goals, five assists and 17 points … Ramos led the team in goals and points and was tied for the team lead in assists

ABOUT HIGH POINT  

• High Point enters Wednesday's non-conference game with an overall record of 0-2-2
• The Panthers' two setbacks have come against NC State (3-2) and No. 7 Marshall (2-0), while they tied No. 14 VCU (1-1) and Davidson (1-1)
• High Point went 10-4-5 a year ago, including a 6-0-1 mark in Big South play
• The Panthers swept both the Big South regular season and tournament titles last season
• High Point was tabbed the preseason favorite in the Big South this season, while Jefferson Amaya was named Preseason Midfielder of the Year
• Brendan Krueger has scored two of High Point's four goals on the season

SERIES HISTORY

• ETSU leads the all-time series, 3-2
• This marks the first meeting since Sept. 21, 2019, when the Bucs won 2-0 in North Carolina
