SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 10, 2024) – The ETSU baseball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end on Friday night as the Bucs fell to Wofford by a score of 11-1 in seven innings. With Friday's loss, the Bucs move to 31-16 overall and 12-7 in SoCon play.
ETSU was limited to just three hits on Friday.
JD Yakubinis tallied the lone extra base hit for the Bucs with a triple, while
Nick Iannantone and
Cameron Sisneros both picked up singles in the contest.
The Buccaneers used five pitchers against the Terriers.
Carter Fink started the game on Friday and pitched most of the game totaling 5.1 innings. Fink allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits to go with four strikeouts.
Following a scoreless first inning, the Terriers pushed across the first run of the game in the bottom of the second. The Bucs, however, quickly answered in the following half inning. Yakubinis picked up his first triple of the season before Iannantone drove him in with a single to knot the score at 1-1.
After the RBI single by Iannantone, it was all Terriers the rest of the way. Wofford scored one in the fourth and fifth innings before scoring four runs in the sixth and seventh to finish off the 11-1 win over the Bucs.
ETSU and Wofford will resume their series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch for game two is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
