CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (March 28, 2024) – The Southern Conference schedule doesn't get any easier for ETSU softball.
After taking on the reigning regular season and tournament champion last weekend to open conference play, the Buccaneers now gear up for a road series at league-leading Chattanooga, which begins Friday in the Scenic City. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday and a solo game Saturday with both start times slated for 1 p.m. at Frost Stadium.

ABOUT THE BUCS
- The Bucs enter weekend play with an overall record of 5-19 and an 0-3 mark in SoCon play
- ETSU is coming off a 7-2 setback to Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night
- Maddison Stowell and Taylor Suchy combined to go 4-for-8 with two doubles and two runs scored
- As a team, ETSU left 10 runners left on base and went 2-of-9 with runners in scoring position against the Golden Eagles
- Cameron Young dropped to second in the SoCon in batting average as she's now hitting .422 after going 0-for-4 on Wednesday night – marking just the fourth time this season Young has been held without a hit
- Young ranks second nationally in doubles per game (0.50), 41st in doubles (10) and 62nd in batting average (.422)
- Cameron Young and Brylee Mesusan are tied for the team lead in hits (27), while Mesusan is 10-of-12 in stolen bases
- As a team, ETSU has totaled double-digit hits six times, while the Bucs have out-hit their opponents eight times this year
ABOUT CHATTANOOGA
- Chattanooga holds the best overall record in the SoCon as the Mocs sit at 21-8 overall and are one of three teams at 3-0 in league play
- The Mocs are coming off a series sweep at Samford last weekend
- Chattanooga has won eight of its 11 home games this season
- The Mocs lead the SoCon in hitting with a .304 batting average, while featuring the third-lowest ERA at 3.48 and the top strikeout our mark in the conference with 195 punch outs
- Taylor Long is 10-3 with a 2.28 ERA (22 ER/67.2 IP) in 18 appearances (eight starts) … Long also has 91 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .189 off her
- At the plate, Kendall Forsythe leads the team with a .375 average, while Olivia Lipari and Kaili Phillips lead the team with six home runs … Kailey Snell leads the Mocs with 29 hits
SERIES HISTORY
- Chattanooga leads the all-time series, 34-11
- The Mocs took two of three from the Bucs last season in Johnson City with the Bucs' lone win being a 9-0 five-inning victory
- Chattanooga has won 10 of the last 11 in the series and is 14-4 against the Bucs at home
