BLACKSBURG, Va. (March 18, 2024) – After playing 18 of its first 19 games of the season at home, the ETSU baseball team will hit the road for just the second time in 2024 on Tuesday when it visits No. 19 Virginia Tech. First pitch between the Buccaneers and Hokies is set for 4 p.m.

Last Time Out – The Bucs dropped the series finale to Villanova on Sunday afternoon by a score of 15-8. With Sunday's loss, the Bucs are now 14-5 on the 2024 campaign.
Among the top 25 – Roughly one month into the season, ETSU ranks among the top 25 in the nation in multiple statistical categories. The Bucs are fifth in sacrifice flies (17), 11
th in doubles per game (2.63), 13
th in doubles (50), 19
th in batting average (.323) and 21
st in walks (124). On the pitching side, the Bucs lead all SoCon pitching staffs in hits allowed per nine innings (8.13) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.8).
Sisneros off to a Special Start –
Cameron Sisneros has continued to be one of the major keys in ETSU's lineup. Entering play on Tuesday, Sisneros ranks ninth in Division I baseball with 32 RBI. Sisneros, a Preseason All-SoCon First Team selection, also ranks 12
th in on-base percentage (.570) and 25
th in doubles (9). Furthermore, Sisneros ranks as the seventh-hardest hitter to strike out this season as he has gone down on strikes just three times in 66 at-bats.
Quite a Week for Cody – Sophomore
Cody Miller had a stellar week for the Bucs hitting .500 with seven RBI and a pair of stolen bases. After last week's play, Miller is hitting .400 in 2024. Miller along with Sisneros and
Nick Iannantone are the only Bucs to play in every game this season. Miller, a member of the All-SoCon Freshman Team in 2023, currently has a 12-game hitting streak and has reached base in 14 consecutive games.
About Virginia Tech – Virginia Tech enters Tuesday's game with the Bucs sporting a 14-4 overall record. The Hokies, who entered the national polls for the first time this season earlier today, won two out of three games at Louisville over the weekend. A player to watch for the Hokies on Tuesday will be Carson DeMartini. Demartini is the reigning Division I Player of the Week after slugging seven home runs in four games. DeMartini has already totaled 12 long balls so far in 2024.
Series History vs. Virginia Tech – ETSU and Virginia Tech have faced each other 58 times over the years. VT holds the edge in the all-time series winning 40 of the 58 matchups, including the last six. ETSU's last win against the Hokies came on April 18, 2017, in Johnson City, 7-4. The Bucs have not won a game in Blacksburg since 2009.
