JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 9, 2024) – The ETSU men's soccer team begins its run towards a Southern Conference Tournament title on Sunday, as the second-seeded Buccaneers host the third-seeded Wofford Terriers in the semifinals at 2 p.m. from Summers-Taylor Stadium.

ABOUT THE BUCS
- ETSU enters the tournament with an overall record of 5-6-4
- The Bucs dropped their regular season finale, 3-2, at UNCG last Saturday
- ETSU went 3-0-3 at home this season
- Allen Vital, in his first season as Buccaneer head coach, was named SoCon Coach of the Year on Thursday

- Marc Kouadio started all 15 games in goal for the Blue & Gold … Kouadio made 74 saves and registered three shutouts
- Kouadio ranks ninth nationally in saves per game (4.93), 13th in total saves and 22nd in save percentage (.787)
- As a team, ETSU ranks 12th nationally in saves per game (5.00) and 36th in save percentage (.765)
- Hubert Deragon earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday after scoring a goal and collecting an assist in ETSU's 3-2 loss at UNCG last Saturday
- In 69 career matches (62 starts), Ramos has totaled 17 goals, 18 assists and 52 points
- The 17 goals rank seventh all-time in program history, while his 52 points also rank seventh-most by a Buccaneer and his 18 assists rank third
- The Bucs are led by first-year head coach Allen Vital … Vital comes to Johnson City with 27 years of head coaching experience as he spent 14 years at Carson-Newman and spent the last 13 seasons at his alma mater, Tusculum
- ETSU won the Southern Conference regular season title a year ago after finishing the 2023 campaign with an overall record of 9-5-3 and league mark of 4-0-1
- The Bucs return nine players who logged minutes on the pitch last season, including preseason all-SoCon selection Gabriel Ramos
ABOUT WOFFORD
- Wofford enters Sunday's match with an overall record of 8-6-2
- The Terriers have won their last two matches and three of their last four, including a 3-0 win over VMI in Friday's quarterfinal at Summers-Taylor Stadium
- Wofford went 4-3-2 on the road this season with a win at Mercer and playing Wake Forest to a scoreless draw
- The Terriers netted 17 goals on the season and surrendered 16
- Stewart Patnaud led the Terriers with four goals and two assists on the season, while freshman goalkeeper Leo Ledin started all 16 matches and made 47 saves and posted six shutouts
SERIES HISTORY
- ETSU leads the all-time series, 12-3-4
- The Bucs are unbeaten in the last 10 matches versus Wofford, going 8-0-2 during this run
- ETSU defeated Wofford 2-0 in the regular season thanks to goals by Dave Neijenhuis and Jimmy Choi back on Oct. 12 in Spartanburg, S.C.
- ETSU is 5-0-4 all-time against Wofford in Johnson City
- Wofford's last win in the series came in on Oct. 4, 2016, when the Terriers picked up a 1-0 victory in Spartanburg

The winner of ETSU-Wofford will advance to next weekend's SoCon Championship game, which will be played on either Nov. 16 or Nov. 17. UNCG and Furman are in the other semifinal.
