Jackson State returns no players from its 2023-24 team. The Tigers fell 78-44 in their season opener to Clemson. JSU shot 27.9% from the field and went 4-18 (22%) from 3-point range. They did notch 11 steals and recorded three blocks on the road.
The two squads have spots of familiarity, despite having never met on the court before. Rakisha Ballinger played with Lyons at Wagner before transferring to JSU. Additionally,
Jaileyah Cotton played at ETSU before transferring to JSU.
Of JSU's fully turned-over roster, three players transferred from D1 schools (Ballinger, Cotton and Cooper – New Orleans), Ruthie Mbugua is the lone D2 transfer (Carson Newman), four players are junior college transfers, three are NAIA transfers, and two are freshmen.
Saturday's matchup will mark the first all-time between ETSU and Jackson State.
