SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 5, 2024) – After recording a goal and an assist in last Saturday's regular season finale at UNCG, ETSU junior
Hubert Deragon was named Southern Conference Defense Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Deragon, who is in his first season with the Blue & Gold, notched his first goal and assist as a Buccaneer against the Spartans.
The Buccaneer defender assisted on ETSU's first goal last Saturday as
Gabriel Ramos pulled the Blue & Gold within a score in the 63rd minute, making it 2-1. Deragon took the ball away from a Spartan player at midfield, fed a pass to
Oliver Einarsson and he found Ramos near the top of the 18-yard box. Eleven minutes later roles reversed as Ramos found Deragon on the run through the left-side of the pitch where the Buccaneer defender fired a laser from 25-yards out into the upper left corner of the frame.
Deragon played all 90 minutes of the match where he took the one shot, registered the goal and assist.
The Bucs are gearing up for postseason play as No. 2 ETSU awaits the winner of No. 3 Wofford-No. 6 VMI in Sunday's SoCon Tournament semifinal at 2 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
