?WILMINGTON, N.C. (Sept. 8, 2023) –?ETSU men's soccer is on the road for the second time this season for their first-ever meeting with the UNC Wilmington Seahawks on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at UNCW Soccer Stadium in Wilmington, N.C.

ABOUT THE BUCS  

• ETSU rallied for a 2-2 draw against 10-man USC Upstate on Tuesday. After a disappointing first half, the Bucs scored twice in the final 25 minutes and outshot the Spartans 35-9 for the match, more than doubling both their shots and shots on goal totals for the entire season to date.
• Seniors Tarik Pannholzer (Flensburg, Germany) and Kieran Richards (Hamilton, New Zealand) both scored their 19th career goals in the second half on Tuesday. They remain tied for fifth-most in school history, one goal behind Aaron Schoenfeld. Richards is fifth all-time with 48 points while Pannholzer is seventh with 45.
• Fellow senior Gabriel Ramos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) collected his seventh career assist on Pannholzer's goal, moving him into a tie for 11th most in school history. Ramos also sits third in the SoCon with five points (two goals, one assist).
• ETSU leads the conference in goals allowed (5) and goals against average (1.25) and is second in the SoCon in goals scored (4) and goal differential (-1). 

ABOUT UNCW 

• The Seahawks scored twice in the final 20 minutes to beat South Carolina 2-0 in Columbia on Tuesday. Ethan Newsome and Cannon Tootle scored five minutes apart to lift UNCW to its second win of the year.
• Their win at South Carolina comes not long after the Seahawks snagged a 1-1 draw at #9 Clemson on August 28. Newsome scored in the 51st minute that night to bring the Seahawks level.
• Newsome, a sophomore, shares UNCW's goals lead with sixth-year graduate student Gabe Mercer. The pair each have two goals of UNCW's six through four games this year.
• The Seahawks were picked third in the CAA preseason poll with preseason All-CAA selection in senior midfielder Pep Casas.  Casas has 19 starts in 21 appearances for the Seahawks since the start of 2022. 

SERIES HISTORY 

• This is the first-ever meeting between the Buccaneers and the Seahawks.
• UNCW is the first of two first-time opponents on the schedule for ETSU, with a first-ever trip to Virginia due on September 26th. 

UP NEXT  

ETSU returns home Tuesday to test themselves against Radford. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
