ABOUT THE BUCS
- The Bucs had a sour return from a week-long layoff, losing 1-0 at Virginia on Tuesday.
- ETSU remains second in the SoCon in goals against average (1.11) and save percentage (.762), with Cole Hunter (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) ranking second individually in both categories as well as leading the SoCon in saves per game (3.60).
- Gabriel Ramos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) leads the attack for ETSU with two goals and two assists this season, tying for seventh in the SoCon in goals, fifth in assists, and sixth in points (6).
- The Bucs are 2-5-2 in conference openers since joining the SoCon in 2014, with wins coming in 2018 at Wofford and 2022 over VMI in Johnson City.
ABOUT WOFFORD
- After starting the season 0-2, the Terriers are unbeaten in their last six and have won two of their last three, most recently a 4-2 win over Winthrop on Tuesday in Spartanburg. Nikolai Rojel scored a hat trick with goals 26th, 38th, and 62nd minutes.
- In addition to the win over Winthrop, the Terriers' unbeaten run features a win over Radford and draws with Queens, UNC Asheville, Georgia State, and at #21 Duke.
- Rojel, the reigning SoCon Freshman of the Year, has made good on his preseason All-SoCon selection in 2023, leading the conference in goals (7), points (14), shots per game (2.88), shots on goal per game (1.38).
- Wofford was picked fifth out of six teams in the SoCon preseason poll.
SERIES HISTORY
- This is the 18th meeting between ETSU and Wofford. The Buccaneers are 11-3-3 against the Terriers and are 7-0-1 in the last eight matchups.
- The Bucs and Terriers have not been short on action. In 17 games, the teams have combined for 73 goals, with ETSU outscoring Wofford 45-28.
- ETSU routed Wofford 3-0 in Spartanburg in the last meeting on October 8, 2022, with a brace from Kieran Richards (Hamilton, New Zealand) in the 27th and 68th minutes bookending a 35th minute goal by Tarik Pannholzer (Flensburg, Germany).
