ETSU battery represents Bucs with academic awards
GREENWOOD, Ind. (May 16, 2023) – College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2022-23 Academic All-District awards for baseball this week, listing ETSU seniors Noah Webb (Kodak, Tenn.) and Colby Stuart (Elon, N.C.) as honorees this season.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 1.
Webb earns the distinction after graduating with a degree in criminal justice. The catcher, who landed second team all-conference honors last season and first team preseason all-conference honors this season, is currently batting .271 through 30 starts. He has five doubles, four homers, 18 walks and 15 RBI, while ranking fourth among starters with a .386 on-base percentage. Webb currently owns the longest reached base streak at 17 games — tied with teammate Cameron Sisneros (Littleton, Colo.) — while hitting safely in seven of the last nine games.
Stuart finishes his storied five-year career at ETSU with an athletic administration certificate. This season, Stuart has appeared in 16 games with five starts, owning a 5.68 ERA. His best performance came this season at The Citadel, where he allowed just three runs over eight innings for a quality start, bringing his ERA to 3.92 over 13 appearances at the time. Stuart has won 16 games in his career and was a first team all-conference selection in 2021 and SoCon Preseason Pitcher of the Year in 2022.
The Bucs conclude the regular season this weekend against UNCG, beginning Thursday, May 18 at 5 p.m. After that, the 2023 Southern Conference Baseball Championship presented by Holston Gases will take place May 24-28 in Greenville, S.C. at Fluor Field.
