2024 Season (Senior) - McCarthy appeared in 31 games and started 27 games at catcher for ETSU in 2024...The Knoxville native hit .232 with 22 hits and 16 runs scored on the season...Slugged three home runs and 20 RBI...Threw out six potential base stealers on the 2024 campaign...Launched home runs against Appalachian State (April 23), at Wofford (May 11) and in the SoCon Tournament win over UNC Greensboro (May 24)...Tallied six multi-hit games...Drove in a season-high four runs on February 17 vs. Lafayette...Hit a walk-off triple in the victory over Harvard on March 13.
2023 Season (Junior) -Â Played in 26 games with 22 starts, all behind the plate ... Part of a three player rotation at catcher with Noah Webb and Marshall Awtry, who combined for the other 33 starts ... Started at catcher for all six of the final games, three in a crucial SoCon series against UNCG and three in the SoCon tournament, and tallied five hits in that span ... Batted .233 for the season and .261 in 14 conference starts ... Had seven doubles, tied for fifth-most among Buccaneers and most among reserves ... Had one homer on March 25 against Samford ... Three multi-hit games ... Drove in 12 runs and scored 12 runs ... Fielded .989 with just two errors all season with 169 putouts and 11 assists ... Caught four runners stealing ... Allowed just one passed ball.
2022 Season (Sophomore) - Made 36 appearances with 35 starts, all behind the plate ... Rotated with Webb as McCarthy played catcher on Fridays and Sundays in the weekend series, taking a few midweeks behind the plate too ... Hit .245 with 22 runs scored, 13 RBI, six doubles, and one home run (against Samford, May 8) ... Added 15 walks and never hit into a double play ... Runners were 25-for-37 (67.6% successful) when stealing a base against McCarthy ... In ETSU's last 15 games, McCarthy started at catcher in all 15 while batting .347, the second-highest average on the team during that span, raising his season average by nearly 100 points ... McCarthy hit safely in 13 of those 15 games with four of his six total multi-hit games on the season ... Scored a season-high three times twice against Tennessee Tech (3/20) and The Citadel (5/20).
