SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 31, 2026) – ETSU men's tennis player Oscar Martinez was named the Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. It is the fifth time this season that Martinez has earned this accolade and the seventh time overall that a Buccaneer has been recognized with this honor this spring. Furthermore, the five player of the week honors for Martinez are the most for a Buc in a single season since 2022 when Dimitri Badra also collected the award five times.
 
Martinez again led the Bucs to a pair of victories against SoCon foes this week. Martinez won both of his singles matches on the week against Wofford's Parker Mariencheck (6-2, 6-3) and Samford's Sandeep Mohandoss (6-4, 6-4). Martinez also teamed up with Martin Vergara to win a doubles match on Sunday against Samford's duo of Darcy Nicholls and Sandeep Mohandoss, 7-6. With those victories, Martinez is now 15-1 in singles and 12-2 in doubles in 2026.
 
Martinez and the rest of the Buccaneers will close out their home schedule on Thursday when they welcome Chattanooga to Johnson City. First serve between the Bucs and Mocs is set for 2 p.m.
