JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - East Tennessee State softball dropped the first midweek of the 2026 season to the future SoCon member, Tennessee Tech. The Bucs (11-6, 0-0 SoCon) fell to the Golden Eagles (3-17, 0-0 OVC) 0-12 on Tuesday evening. The shutout was the first for the Bucs this season.
NOTABLES (L, 0-12 vs. Tennessee Tech)
- Abigail Taylor, Whitney Boone, Tiare Rieger and Riley Martens each recorded a hit in the contest, with Taylor laying down a single, Boone singling to the pitcher, a single up the middle from Martens and an infield single for Rieger. Taylor was able to secure the lone stolen base for the Bucs in the outing. Rieger and Boone led plate efficiency, going 1-2 each.
- Hailey Porter registered a career-high four assists in the contest.
- Riley Croley tied her career-high of three assists with one putout.
- Riley Martens led in putouts with five to be followed by Leinani Lutu with three and Taylor Suchy with two.
- Taylor Suchy turned a double play in the contest, catching a fly ball in right field and then throwing the runner down at home via Leinani Lutu at the plate.
- The team totaled 18 at-bats, four hits, drew three walks and tallied nine assists through the 15 putouts.

The Bucs return to action over March 13-14 at the Radford Invitational in Radford, Va.. The squad is set to face Radford and Lafayette.
