SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 3, 2026) – ETSU men's tennis player Oscar Martinez was named the Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday's honor is the second of the season for Martinez and the third overall for the Bucs (Martin Vergara – January 27).
 
Martinez went a perfect 3-0 in his matches last week in helping ETSU pull off victories against DePaul and VCU. Martinez won his singles match against both the Blue Demons and Rams. Furthermore, he helped the Bucs clinch the doubles point, which helped the Blue and Gold edge out VCU, 4-3. 
 
Martinez and the rest of the Buccaneers will return to action on Sunday when they host Presbyterian in non-conference action. First serve for that tilt is set for 2 p.m.
