JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2026) - ETSU cut down the nets and raised a trophy, but the final score favored the visitors.
The ETSU men's basketball team fell 72-69 to Wofford on Wednesday in their 2025-26 home finale in front of more than 5,300 fans at Freedom Hall.
The Buccaneers (21-8, 13-4) led 37-33 at halftime and led for the first 13:25 of the second half before Nils Mahovski put the Terriers (19-11, 11-6) in front at the free throw line. The Bucs tied the game multiple times but could not get over the hump, most notably with 48 seconds left when Brian Taylor II missed the front end of two free throws down 69-68. He made the second, but Cayden Vasco gave Wofford the lead back at the line with 19 seconds remaining, and the Terriers held on.
The Bucs shot 53% from the field but were just 15% (2-for-13) from three and 59% (13-for-22) from the free throw line, their second- and fourth-lowest percentages of the season. Blake Barkley led with 16 points and six rebounds, followed by Jordan McCullum with 15 points and six boards. Cam Morris III had 13 and five, and Taylor had 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Maki Johnson led ETSU with four assists to go with nine points and six rebounds.
